I've spent most of an evening, and my Ritalin, on procrastinating through this essay instead of preparing a presentation for tomorrow. But very well:

FY1: Interns in their first year. They do two, total, in the NHS.

Med Reg: The gentleman, or lady, who is the single most overworked person in the hospital. Senior enough to know what they're doing, not senior enough to negotiate humane hours.

ARCP: An annual review that gates further progression in training. A perennial cause of stress.

Junior Registrar: Someone pretending they're any better than an intern. In other words, me.

Senior Registrar: Some doing a better job of pretending. They'd be a fully qualified senior doctor most places of the globe, but the NHS will wring you for all you're worth while you're climbing up the ladder.

Consultant: I'd prefer you ask termites instead.

I really enjoy your doctor stories.

>On day one I told them that stupid questions do exist, and that I was issuing everyone a month of exemptions.

This is a great line too. I hope I get the opportunity to use it one day.
